Debra discovered her love for Pilates ten years ago. She was planning to become a Pilates trainer before being diagnosed in May of 2008 with Parkinson’s disease and thought she would have to give up that dream. Thankfully, she went to a “newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s” meeting and was inspired by another Pilates instructor who has had PD for over 17 years! Now she’s following her dream and turning her passion for Pilates into a chance to help others with PD to feel more balanced, stronger and flexible in their bodies. She offers a unique perspective as a Pilates Trainer with PD. Debra and her family are also avid equestrians and she loves how Pilates supports proper form and alignment, enabling the rider to become athletic, lithe, energetic, supple and flexible. She believes Pilates is beneficial to everybody and supports the body in whatever sport one chooses and with physical challenges that may arise. Debra began the Instructor Certification program with Balanced Body’s University in July 2009 and continues to work toward Certification in all areas of Pilates instruction. She is dedicated to teaching Pilates to men and women of all ages and fitness levels.
